Time change may disrupt medical devices

The lengthening of daylight time may trigger malfunctions with medical devices and hospital information systems, Health Canada warned Wednesday. The department disseminated advisories from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration aimed at hospital officials, health-care workers and people reliant on medical devices and their caregivers.

Restore honor to Walter Reed Army hospital

It’s wrenching to admit that anything having to do with Walter Reed Army Medical Center is a national disgrace. That wounded military personnel being treated there were forced to live in deplorable conditions dishonors the name of the facility. It does a disservice to the memory of Dr. Walter Reed, the famed Army physician. The disservice extends to the multitude of physicians, nurses, therapists and others on the staff who have served with utmost dedication and compassion to treat bodies and minds damaged by warfare.

Over half of U.S. women don't get enough sleep

According to a poll released by the National Sleep Foundation (NSF), American women are very, very tired. Sixty percent say they don't get enough rest most nights of the week while 43 percent report that daytime sleepiness interferes with their regular activities.

Brought by Toronto financier Lawrence Bloomberg, it is the largest private investment in a Canadian nursing faculty and will enable the University of Toronto to address some of the most important issues driving Canada's nursing shortage.
