SAN FRANCISCO (Dow Jones) -- When business at his Boston production company started falling off after 9/11, Robert Beeman began thinking about parlaying his love of science into a second career in health care. He hadn't planned to stay at the creative services company he co-founded 20 years ago for more than five years, and the decline in advertising clients caused him to reconsider his earlier goals.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Norwich University is on the verge of securing $200,000 that could expand its nursing program by 50 percent and build 10 new nursing laboratories. Rep. Peter Welch, D-Vt., announced the federal appropriation this weekend after working to add the funding to the House-passed 2008 Labor, Health and Human Service and Education Appropriations bill. The bill provides enough funding to expand incoming classes from 65 to 120 students each year.
