There will be more Des Moines homes for sale after Des Moines school leaders unveiled a proposed spending plan Friday that slashes an unprecedented $33 million from next year’s budget and eliminates nearly 350 teaching positions. The reductions will affect every school and employee group, said Superintendent Nancy Sebring. They amount to an across-the-board cut of $720 per student and will push up class sizes for some of the district’s neediest children.
